Unio is a booking and operations platform built for wedding professionals in India. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it — in plain language, without the legalese.
By using Unio, you agree to the practices described here. If you have questions, write to us at hey@unio.events.

Information from WhatsApp
If you use our WhatsApp integration, we receive your phone number and message content via the Meta / WhatsApp Business API. This is used solely to deliver messages you have requested.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Unio platform
- Respond to your enquiries and support requests
- Process bookings and manage event workflows
- Send transactional messages (booking confirmations, reminders) via WhatsApp Business API
- Send you relevant product updates and business communications (you can opt out at any time)

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data in accordance with India's Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Personal Data Protection Bill (PDPB) framework. Our legal bases are:
- Consent — where you have explicitly agreed, such as opting in to WhatsApp communications or marketing messages.
- Contractual necessity — where processing is required to deliver the service you have signed up for.
- Legitimate business interest — where we have a valid business reason (such as fraud prevention or improving the product) that does not override your rights.
5. WhatsApp and Meta Platform
We use the WhatsApp Business API, provided by Meta Platforms Inc., to send transactional and service messages to users who have opted in.
- By opting in to WhatsApp communication from Unio, you consent to receiving messages through this channel.
- Message content and phone numbers handled via the API are subject to Meta's Privacy Policy, which governs their data practices independently of ours.
- We use message data only to deliver communications you have requested. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
To opt out of WhatsApp messages, reply STOP to any message from us, or email us at hey@unio.events and we will remove you promptly.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser that help us recognise you and remember your preferences.
What we use cookies for
- Keeping you signed in
- Understanding which pages and features are most useful (analytics)
- Improving performance and reliability
How to disable cookies
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies under Settings → Privacy or Preferences → Privacy. Please note that disabling cookies may affect how parts of Unio work — some features depend on cookies to function correctly.
7. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. Full stop.
We may share your data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — we work with trusted third parties for hosting, analytics, and messaging (such as Meta / WhatsApp). They are bound by confidentiality agreements and may only use your data to perform services for us.
- Legal requirements — if we are required by law, court order, or government authority to disclose information, we will do so and, where permitted, notify you.
- Business transfers — if Unio is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before that happens.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfil the purposes described in this policy. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
If you would like us to delete your data, email us at hey@unio.events and we will process your request within 30 days.
9. Your Rights
Under India's data protection framework, you have the right to:
- Access — ask us what personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete — ask us to erase your data (subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it).
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hey@unio.events. We aim to respond within 30 days.
10. Data Protection
We use industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews — to protect your data.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. However, we take every reasonable step to protect your information.
In the event of a data breach that affects your rights or interests, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
11. Children's Privacy
Unio is a professional tool intended for adults. Our services are not directed at anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child, we will delete it immediately. Please contact us at hey@unio.events if you believe this has occurred.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice within the Unio platform before the changes take effect.
Continued use of Unio after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
